“Why should I go\u00a0 on holiday to Mozambique”? “What does it have to offer”? “What is unique about Mozambique<\/strong>“? These were the most frequently asked questions at the Fair for <\/strong><\/a><\/span>Adventure, Luxury & Cultural Tours <\/strong><\/a>in Amsterdam, in the beautiful Beurs van Berlage<\/strong><\/a>, an architectural work of art with a rich past, in which I took part for the first time this year.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” theme_builder_area=”post_content” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″ alt=”Unique Mozambique op de Vakantiebeurs Bijzondere Reizen in Amsterdam ” title_text=”Unique Mozambique Vakantiebeurs Amsterdam Afrika” src=”https:\/\/uniquemozambique.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Unique-Mozambique-Vakantiebeurs-Amsterdam-Afrika.webp”][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]<\/p>\n This fair focuses on small-scale providers of holidays and unique destinations<\/strong> and is organised every year in January. I had only just finished decorating my stand with Mozambican capulanas<\/em> (sarongs), plugged in the monitor with my presentation on this beautiful destination, when visitors started to pour in.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_heading title=”Why come to Mozambique?” admin_label=”Heading” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” title_level=”h2″ title_font=”|–et_global_heading_font_weight|||||||” title_text_color=”#FF6B5A” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][\/et_pb_heading][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]<\/p>\n “Because it is stunningly beautiful!”, I answered enthusiastically to the most popular question of the day. Mozambique is stunning and off the beaten track – an undiscovered destination with few tourists<\/strong>, beautiful beaches, snorkelling and diving with stunning coral reefs and small-scale and very nice accommodations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_heading title=”%22And I live there myself%22!” admin_label=”Heading” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” title_level=”h2″ title_font=”|–et_global_heading_font_weight|||||||” title_text_color=”#FF6B5A” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][\/et_pb_heading][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]<\/p>\n Still somewhat hesitant, people watched my presentation on the monitor which showed beautiful images of the Bazaruto Archipelago<\/strong><\/a> and its alluring turquoise ocean, and our safari in the magnificent Gorongosa National Park<\/a> in July 2024. What a contrast to this rainy grey cold Dutch Saturday in January!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It was busier at Marjon\u2019s table next to me. Like me, she organises personal tailor-made trips to Africa – \u00a0to Madagascar<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0 destination somewhat better-known in the Netherlands<\/strong> <\/a>than Mozambique. I visited it myself back in 2010 with Gerry. Back then we met no less than five tourists on the whole trip, a beautiful country with unique nature.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_heading title=”Personal approach & Passion” admin_label=”Heading” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” title_level=”h2″ title_font=”|–et_global_heading_font_weight|||||||” title_text_color=”#FF6B5A” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][\/et_pb_heading][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]<\/p>\n In between all the larger agents and tour operators with professional promotional material, fancy banners and free promotional gifts, it was surely no coincidence that Marjon and I were located beside each other; small-scale one-man businesses (one-woman businesses to be precise) with similar visions such as a personal approach and a passion for the countries we represent.<\/strong><\/p>\n I noticed our approach did appeal and we were even getting questions whether Mozambique and Madagascar could be combined in a single trip! The laid-back capital Maputo, located on the Indian Ocean, is a fun city to spend a few days. It wasn\u2019t easy to summarise the uniqueness of this country in 25 minutes, but the striking images captured the imagination of everyone and the reactions were enthusiastic. \u2018How stunning!\u2019 \u2018The beauty<\/strong>!\u2019. \u2018It has so much to offer<\/strong>\u2019 and \u201cHow did you end up living there?<\/strong><\/a>\u201d were just some of the comments. A couple of people came back to my stand to find out even more. It\u2019s a special and unique destination, with the fair living up to its name.<\/p>\n If you like beautiful beaches, diving and snorkelling or fancy a lovely relaxing wellness holiday <\/strong><\/a>after, for example, a safari holiday in South Africa or Botswana, Mozambique is not an inferior destination to places such as Mauritius<\/strong><\/a> – often chosen by agents or tour operators.
