A nice surprise yesterday; a guest who we met on one of our safaris in Gorongosa National Park sent me the video he made from that day and it's so cool!! Thank you for sharing!

They were a group of Indian friends visiting Gorongosa and invited us for delicious Indian food that evening where we were treated as King and Queen!

A seahorse safari is a very nice activity to do he

A seahorse safari is a very nice activity to do here in Vilanculos, Mozambique, and a good example of ecotourism.

This local community-led project by @parcomoz, serves as alternative Income to Seahorse Poaching. The powder of these beautiful small creatures are believed to have strong medicinal powers, but they are an important part of the ecosystem. They are now an endangered specie.

Sailing away on the Indian Ocean on a local dhow to find these beautiful animals with one of the great guides, is a special experience and contributes to the good work of ParCo.

ParCo ("Parceiros Comunitarios" = Community Partners) is a local NGO and does some fantastic community- and very important protection work such as beach clean ups, recycling and environmental education. Much needed as, especially after the last cyclone here in Vilanculos, we found out the ocean is full of plastic. Terribly sad.

A great example of local community ecotourism and a unique experience.

Mozambique is perfect for children! It is a very safe and relaxed country and Mozambicans love children! The waters are warm and places like #vilanculos, situated around a shallow bay with calm warm waters, are ideal.

Your older children will love activities such as kite surfing, coconut cutting, snorkeling, horse riding on the beach or just playing football with the locals.

Mozambique is harstikke leuk voor kinderen!
Het is een heel veilig en relaxed land en Mozambikanen zijn gek op kinderen! Lekker warm water en ondiepe baaien zoals in Vilanculos maken het een ideale familiebestemming. Accommodaties zoals bijvoorbeeld @travessialodge die ik vanochtend ook in mijn webinar voorbij liet komen, zijn goed ingericht op families. Activiteiten zoals kokosnoten snijden, schelpen zoeken op het strand, snorkelen, paardrijden of gewoon lekker voetballen met de lokale bevolking op het strand zijn super leuk.

On Bartolomeu Dias (BD) point - 30 Kms north of Inhassoro - we also visited @rioazul.lodge

A classical style lodge on a beautiful location overlooking the lagoon, this is a small scale lodge with a Homey feel from where you can enjoy the most amazing sunsets. In Dutch we call this Homey feel 'gezellig'.

The staff is lovely and manager Mark will take you on an unforgettable fishing trip on the Indian Ocean or Paradise (Santa Carolina) island where Bob Dylan wrote his song Mozambique. Rio Azul is fantastic for small groups, a special occasion or celebration.

To get to BD point you'll drive 30 Kms on the beach at low tide, which is a fantastic experience in itself. If your budget allows it, helicopter transfers from Vilanculos are also an option.

Inhassoro is like the shy but beautiful sister of

Inhassoro is like the shy but beautiful sister of Vilanculos. This weekend we visited Sussurro Boutique Hotel there, which I had been wanting to visit for some time.

Sussurro is Mozambique's newest hippest kid on the block and is located on a peninsula on a paradise-like, tropical lagoon north of Inhassoro.

The journey there is a unique experience in itself because the hotel is only accessible at low tide and to get there you drive 30 kms on the beach. What an experience this is!

Sussurro is chic.

It's sophisticated, stylish, up to date classy, and unique.

The mix of contemporary African art with local material, stylish design in a setting on a snow-white sandy beach with swaying palm trees, on a turquoise blue lagoon where local fishermen calmly sail by, is truly unique.

Sussurro is completely off-grid, has its own veggie gardens and a fabulous and creative menu with Mozambique's best fresh seafood, straight from the local fishermen.

Sussurro means whisper.

Shhhhh.......be still & listen.
So you can hear the butterfly whisper.

Imagine sailing away on the blue Indian Ocean, a warm breeze on your skin, the soft calming sound of the waves and slowly passing through space and time. Turquoise blue water around and paradise beaches with swaying palm trees in front of you while the cook grills your fresh fish.

A dhow cruise or safari is a very relaxing, mindful and unique experience in Mozambique.

You can take a day trip from Vilanculos or from Ilha de Mozambique, or even a multiple-day trip where you visit the idyllic islands of Bazaruto Archipelago National Park by dhow.

A dhow is a traditional Arabian sail boat and dhows have been sailing the coast of Mozambique for centuries already. They are still used today by the fishermen and it's always a very special sight to wake up in the morning and see the dhows slowly passing by in front of our house.

What makes Gorongosa National Park so special? It'

What makes Gorongosa National Park so special? It's not just the wild animals, the exceptionally beautiful landscapes, trees, plants, ecosystems and local people that make this area unique. The story is unique. The experience more than unique.

A popular destination in the sixties and much visited by film stars at the time such as John Wayne and Joan Crawford, the area was bursting with animals. The civil war destroyed everything and in 1994 literally only a handful of animals remained. A huge restoration project began and 20 years later, not only has the entire ecosystem - and thus the entire wildlife population - been restored, Gorongosa NP now provides work for hundreds of local Mozambicans, while huge investments are being made in all kinds of local community projects, education, conservation, education and (scientific) research.
It's truly incredible what has been achieved here in 20 years.

One thing I loved about @travessialodge when I vis

One thing I loved about @travessialodge when I visited with @mindwise_mindfulness, is the homey atmosphere & feeling in a far away remote african bush setting, yet very accessible from Vilanculos and other places. In Dutch we call this homeyness 'gezelligheid'.
The setting is fantastic and sitting at the bar by the pool a special experience.

Here, you can truly relax, unwind and enjoy Mozambique's peaceful energy and fantastic unspoilt coastline. A morning coffee on your deck, whale watching from the beach, a massage overlooking the Indian Ocean...Plus, great for families too! While you have your massage your kids can go off wandering around the bush or play with the local kids who will love it.

We started our roadtrip in the bush with beautiful Gorrongosa NP and finished in the bush in this gorgeous peaceful little bush lodge not too far away from Gorongosa. What a find! A lovely place to relax and be quiet, surrounded by nature, animals, beautiful birds and some creepy creatures as well..We had no reception so a perfect digital detox for a couple of days, good for body and soul.

Definitely a great addition to Unique Mozambique's portfolio and a wonderful place to hold mindfulness in nature retreats in cooperation with @mindwise_mindfulness and Gorrongosa.
