Trip Highlights

1. Ilha de Moçambique (Mozambique Island)

UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991, this is a unique destination in Mozambique. Travel back in time and in Mozambique’s trading history and stay in one of the beautifully restored boutique hotels you will not find anywhere else in Mozambique. Discover the local Makua culture and food, take a stroll through the old streets of Stone Town or hop on a bicycle, visit the museum and Fort and delve into its fascinating history. Sip a cold beer or drink a classy cocktail in one of the beautifully restored cafes or restaurants, try the local speciality Cava Cava.

Contemplate on ancient and modern life. Ilha de Mozambique is something else.

2. Traditional dhow safari seeing World Heritage Sites from the Indian Ocean

Sail away to paradise and see the unique World Heritage sites from the ocean by traditional Swahili dhow. Visit Vasco da Gama island, Ilha Sete Paus, the sacred Baobabs and Cabaceira Grande where the first traders settled. Here you will see the most beautiful beaches you will ever see. You will feel far away from the world as we know it.

3. Stay on a Moringa Farm supporting local communities

Stay in Lumbo, one of the oldest historical trading places of Mozambique in a tranquil stylish lodge. In this serene place you will find true silence and peace.  This is also the home base of an organic Moringa plantation where the highly beneficial Moringa oils and powders are produced. The lodge is linked to the Pearl of Mozambique foundation with the goal of improving the welfare and living conditions in Mozambique.

Relax, rest and reconnect on a this quiet and peaceful place, a stone throw away from Ilha de Mozambique. Visit the organic Moringa farm, take a quiet canoe tour through the mangroves surrounded by beautiful birds and let yourself amaze and inspire by this beautiful part of the world.

4. Discover sacred Baobabs and Cabaceira grande

The traditional Swahili dhow is still the main form of transport in this part of the world. Take a dhow across the bay from Ilha de Mozambique to Cabaceira Grande, one of the oldest Portuguese settlements in Mozambique. Stay in beautiful Coral Lodge with superb food, or a simpler place run by the local community. Both are very passionate about the local community and tourism helps to provide a living for many of them. Visit the sacred Baobabs, buy a lobster from the local fishermen and meet the friendly locals.  Pinch yourself in the arm to remind yourself that you are truly and really in paradise.

5. Marine conservation, microdiving and pristine reef snorkeling into the untouched north

Continue your discovery trip through this undiscovered part of the world and travel further north by private transfer where you will find magnificent reefs and very unique microdiving. Stay in remote Nuarro Ecolodge in the idyllic shores of the Bay of Nanatha, the only place in Mozambique where you can snorkel straight from the beach. Or base yourself closer to civilization in Nacala where we discovered some fascinating scientific research projects with microdiving.

Let me help you to organize your holiday in this incredibly beautiful part of the world. An unforgettable experience.
